Tulse Hill Canopy
Introduction
Through a historic connection and earlier work on the Governance for Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) 3 Design Stage at Tulse Hill Canopy, Wilson & Partners (W&P) were consulted to assist in the completion of later stages in the design.
Appointment
W&P completed the lighting work on the platforms at Tulse Hill Railway Station to GRIP 5 Design, with containment and associated services, including:
-
Specification of light fittings
-
Assessment of existing canopy & associated electrical equipment
-
Specification of bracket containment
-
Full design & 3D modelling of new of lighting system
-
Assessment of power requirements for new electrical infrastructure
Services & Solutions
Our principal strategy was to employ 3D Modelling Software (for illustration and coordination of services) and Lux calculations to identify existing light distribution space and ensure a uniform spread of light for the new canopy.
Due to the pattern D00 requirements, W&P worked to improve vertical & horizontal uniformity, achieving a 40% increase in light spill performance compared to standard configuration. The end result was a very satisfied client, with great feedback from both SNC Lavalin and Network Rail.
