University of Kent Templeman Library

Introduction:
Wilson & Partners have been commissioned to provide Mechanical Design Services for the replacement rooftop ventilation and cooling equipment, serving an iconic existing building located on the University of Kent's Canterbury campus.

Brief:
The Works comprise of the decommission, isolation and removal of existing services from the Templeman Library Extension Roof so that remedial works can be carried out to the roof. Once re-roofing works are complete, new ventilation systems to the extension main spaces and the toilet areas will be supplied, installed, and commissioned mechanical services, as specified herein and as shown on the design intent drawings for the Templeman Extension Roof project. Existing ductwork is to be assessed and utilised where possible and adaptions to the MTHW circuits will be completed to suit the new layouts. The need for comfort cooling will be assessed and designed to be interfaced with the existing heating controls to ensure simultaneous operation will not occur.

Project delivery:
Stage 4 Drawings and specification are to be delivered by close of business 2022, with tender to be completed in early 2023. Contract works are to be completed by Summer 2023 ready for the new student intake.
